Eileen BergenI’ve always loved to craft, but once career and family took over my life, I had no time. After taking early retirement, I started crafting again to save money. Things just fell into place for me and I feel very blessed.

I made and sold crafts at expos and craft fairs, then opened a gift shop to sell my crafts, and finally started The Artful Crafter website and blog. We chose as our motto "The Artful Crafter - Helping Crafters to Be". I figured there had to be many more people out there like me – people who need to bring in extra cash and aren’t aware of their hidden talents.

My original intention was to advise other crafty people on how to get started crafting for profit. But a really neat thing happened along the way. Casual crafters, as well as those already crafting for profit, began writing with questions on problems they were having with a project or asking for craft ideas or tutorials.

So our motto has taken on a broader meaning; but it still fits!
