Nothing says Christmas quite like peppermint. Enjoy this holiday treat without the calories by making your own homemade Christmas Soap. Peppermint Christmas Soap is a fun stocking stuffer idea and can be given to a teacher or neighbor.

Peppermint Christmas Soap

Materials:

  • 4 ounces white melt & pour glycerin soap
  • 8 ounces clear melt & pour glycerin soap
  • Red soap coloring additive
  • Soap fragrance of your choice
  • 2 round soap molds (or food containers)
  • Measuring cups (microwave safe)
  • Stirring spoons
  • Microwave
  • Clear plastic wrap or cellophane
  • Rubbing alcohol in a spritzer bottle
  • Refrigerator (optional)
  • Holiday ribbon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pour about 1 inch deep water into 1 round soap mold.

  2. Pour water into measuring cup. This indicates to you how much soap you will need to melt to make a 1 inch wide peppermint soap. Take note of the amount.

  3. Cut white soap into ice cubed sized chunks.

  4. Add the amount of white soap (as determined in Step 2) into a measuring cup. Microwave 30 seconds and then additional 10 second increments until all white soap is melted. Stir with spoon.

  5. Add soap fragrance. Stir with spoon.

  6. Pour white soap into the round soap mold. Spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles.

  7. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with clear soap.

  8. Add red color additive and soap fragrance. Stir with spoon.

  9. Pour red soap into the round soap mold. Spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles.

  10. Allow to dry/solidify for 30 minutes to 3 hours. Drying time is accelerated in the refrigerator.

  11. After soap has solidified, remove soap from soap molds. Clean and dry soap molds.

  12. Stacking the 2 soaps together, cut into 6 or 8 (your choice) “pie slices.”

  13. Add 3 ounces of clear soap chunks to a clean measuring cup.

  14. Microwave 30 seconds and then additional 10 second increments until all clear soap is melted. Stir with spoon.

  15. Pour a thin layer of clear soap into the bottom of each round soap mold.

  16. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.

  17. Alternating red and white soap slices, position like a peppermint candy.

  18. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.

  19. Pour another thin layer of clear soap on top of the red and white soap.

  20. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.

  21. Allow to dry/solidify for 30 minutes to 3 hours. Drying time is accelerated in the refrigerator.

  22. After soap has solidified, remove soap from soap molds.
