DID YOU KNOW?

This Melted Snowman Ornament is one of the most creative snowman crafts for adults on our site. Our readers love snowman crafts because snowmen are some of the most iconic Christmas characters. However, did you know that the first known drawing of a snowman was found in Book of Hours, a piece of work from 1380 that was found in The Hague in the Netherlands? In the middle ages, snowmen were actually built as political commentary, and that practice was very popular. Though professional sculpturists find snow to be an excellent medium to create stunning pieces of work, modern snowmen and women are mostly built by children. With the wildly popular Christmas song, Frosty the Snowman, sung by Gene Autry in 1950, it's no wonder children flock to this activity. There was also a Little Golden Book and a movie of the same name that became instant classics. The fairytale idea of a snowman coming to life is a fun idea for both adults and child, and this is one of the reasons there are so many popular snowman crafts that people make and display throughout the holiday season.

Oh this is just too cute. I have to make this now. I like the idea of the top of an orange crayon for his nose. And I must add a top hat with a little felt sprig of mistletoe . I was thinking you could use these directions to make a Halloween ghost too. Just put two holes for eyes or two pieces of black felt. It could hang with fishing line to make it look like its floating in air.

I made these a few years ago as a gift for my mother and it turned out great! I featured the idea on my blog where I write about trying out ideas I find on Pinterest. Check it out! https//iampinderella.wordpress.com/2016/02/12/melt == ed-snowman-ornament/

I have made these before. But I used a top hat on it also. Then I colored tooth picks for the nose.

Once the hot glue has cooled and hardened completely, you can "soak off" the wax paper. First peel off what you can then toss the glue glob in water and it will come off with a little rubbing. Also I used the tip of an orange crayon for the nose instead of the pipe cleaner.

I haven't tried the hot glue on foil yet, but there are colored glue sticks in the craft store - wonder if there is white? Also, if you can spray Pam (non stick coating spray) on the foil if that would unstick the glue from the foil? Guess I better get my glue gun out and try it....

I would sat do it on a cookie pan, or something like that you can push it off. I did them once but didn't use foil or waxed paper and had no problem.

definitely DID NOT WORK!!! I even improvised and tried to do this on wax paper after the foil didn't work... no luck either way! Foil and wax paper both stick to it and you can totally see the glue lines, so i attempted to flatten it out betwee two sheets of wax paper. DON'T WASTE YOUR GLUE!!!

I used wax paper and had no problem.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This one sucks. The glue does not looks like a melted snowman at all. It looks like glue on tin foil. And when you try to peel the tin foil off it does not come off.

1. How rude. 2. Don't use foil use a cookie sheet 3. If you can't say something nice don't say anything.
