Festive Paper Tissue Box Cover

Don't have your tissue boxes sticking out from your beautiful Christmas decorations this year by making a Festive Paper Tissue Box Cover. Once you choose your favorite holiday wrapping paper, you're only a few steps away from creating a homemade Christmas decoration that costs you nothing. This can also be a fun way to get your kids involved with helping you decorate the house during Christmastime, so encourage them to help you pick out the paper and gather the tissue boxes.

Materials:

  • tissue box cover
  • scrapbook paper (2 - 12” X 12” pages) or wrapping paper
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • mod podge
  • foam brush
  • matching ribbon
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • pencil

Instructions:

  1. Measure all sides of your tissue box cover. The measurements provided in this tutorial are for a tissue box cover that is 5” width by 5” length by 5.5” height

  2. Cut one 5” X 5” square out of your paper

  3. Cut two 5.5” X 10” rectangles out of your paper

  4. With square paper wrong side up, turn tissue box cover upside down directly on top of the square paper. Using your pencil, trace around the edges, specifically the center opening of the tissue box and the corners (if applicable)

  5. Cut square to match the top of your tissue box cover

  6. Using your foam brush, brush a thin layer of mod podge over the top of the tissue box cover

  7. Line up paper to the cut out and position exactly onto the top of your tissue box cover. Press out all air bubbles and wrinkles

  8. Add an additional layer of mod podge over the paper

  9. Repeat the same steps for the sides of your tissue box cover

  10. Allow to dry completely, 30 minutes or longer

  11. Use your hot glue gun to add a ribbon trim around the top edge of your tissue box cover

Who knew tissue paper could be so fun, huh? I love that you can use this decorative tissue box in a sophisticated or down to earth theme. The versatility of this idea makes it very appealing because you can customize the color or pattern by swapping out scrapbook pages and tissue paper colors.
