How long does the salt dough ornaments last? I want to make some, but I am afraid they will start breaking down and making a mess before the holidays are over if I make them too early. I want to put them all around my tree this year and see how many comments I get.

I have made many salt dough decorations and if painted with shellac they can last for 50 years or more as some of mine have!

Reading the words "salt dough" has brought back so many childhood memories for me! I will have to do this with me niece and nephew this Christmas so they have the same memories I had growing up with salt dough, we can even get gold paint and wrote there names and year on it, would be a lovely keepsake as well!
