Glance at your recycling bin. You probably never guessed that all of those tin cans could be used to make a lantern. Transform a discarded soda can into this Thrifty Tin Can Lantern and enjoy a totally new type of Christmas lighting. DIY lanterns are all the rage right now, and it's easy to see why. You'll love how the light from your tiny candle dances off of the handcrafted tin lantern. This Christmas craft proves that holiday lighting doesn't only come from strings of lights.

I would never think that you could do something so elegant with a pop can. How rough are the edges? If little ones come to visit, then maybe I need to put these decorations up on shelves instead of the tree or tables. I just want to be safe all the way around.

OMG this is the best recycle and reuse project I have seen yet. I love this Thrifty Tin Can Lantern. I so want to make a bunch of these this week-end to give a Christmas gifts. I have just bought 50 tea light candles for a dollar and they will work for this.. I can paint the cans different colors to match the gift receivers home decor. With all the different size cans available I'm going to have fun doing this craft. Thank you so much for sharing this free Christmas craft.
