Christmas Easel Card

Christmas card making is one of the most fun parts of the holiday season! Instead of buying a generic card with a boring sentiment, create a Christmas Easel Card by Carlene Eshelman that has four individual drawers. Make one for everyone you love.

Materials:

  • Two 6" X 6” red cardstock sheets
  • Two 6" X 12” red cardstock sheets
  • Two 1/2” X 8” red cardstock sheets
  • Four 4-3/8” X 5-3/8” red cardstock sheets
  • Completed 6" X 6”card front
  • 4 pearl brads
  • Scoreboard/bonefolder
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive

Instructions:

  1. Take 6" X 12” cardstock, and score at 6” and 9”.
     
  2. Fold in half, then fold next piece back.
     
  3. Place glue on the top 3" X 6” flap, and adhere a 6" X 6” cardstock to it. Set aside.
     
  4. Take 3-1/2” X 8” cardstock, score at 1”, 3-1/2”, 4-1/2”, and 7”. Fold at scores.
     
  5. Place glue on one of the last flaps and adhere to other end. This will form a tube.
     
  6. Take 4-3/8” X 5-3/8” cardstock and score 1” away from edges on all four sides.
     
  7. Cut into side of cardstock as shown.

  8. Glue four tabs in, to form an open drawer.
     
  9. Slip tube from step 5 over the drawer.
     
  10. Piece a small slit into middle, side of drawer, and install brad.
     
  11. Repeat steps 4-10 to create 3 more boxes.
     
  12. Place remaining 6" X 6” cardstock on table. Arrange four boxes onto cardstock as shown.

  13. Glue bottoms of boxes to top of cardstock.
     
  14. Take folded cardstock from step 3, and adhere bottom of card to top of the four boxes.
     
  15. Glue completed card front to the top of the first cardstock.

I would never think to make boxes and glue them together to make a card with drawers. Where did you come up with the idea? I can think of so many treats to stash in the little drawers. My daughter would love some jewelry and chocolate. My boys would prefer hardtack candy and skin products. I can think of a little great niece of mine who would love to tear this up and find all sorts of goodies too.
