DID YOU KNOW?

Learning how to make Christmas ornaments is one of the best crafting skills you can pick up. This is because there are so many ideas out there, many of which are easy enough for anyone to try. In the United States, we have all sorts of options when it comes to the ornaments we hang on our Christmas trees. From baubles to plastic ornaments that play music or light up, you could spend hours staring at the assortment on any Christmas tree. Each American family has their own traditions when it comes to the ornaments that decorate the tree. However, did you know that there are some interesting traditions for ornaments in other countries? In Germany, parents hang up a fake pickle ornament on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, the first child to find the Christmas pickle gets a special treat. Ukrainians actually decorate their Christmas tree with fake spiders and spider webs. This tradition comes from a popular folk tale about a poor family who could not afford to decorate their outside Christmas tree for the holiday. On Christmas morning, they noticed it was covered in spider webs. When the sunlight hit the tree, the webs turned to tinsel.
