I wonder if plain wrapping paper strips would be sturdy enough to make this? There are always bits and pieces of wrapping paper left over at Christmas time and this would be a really cool way to use them up. Also, I had an idea of using a small button for one end and "sewing" through the holes and back again to hold it together.

This could not be a simpler craft to make, but it does not make the effect any less stunning. If you have children, this craft would be easy enough for them to try, with a little help! It's completely customizable too. I can imagine this ornament in an assortment of blues or greens, or even in a rainbow of holiday colours. Only your imagination is the limit!
