Holiday Tree Wine Bottle Cover
You can't go wrong with a nice bottle of wine. Before you gift a bottle of your favorite vino, wrap it up in a homemade Holiday Tree Wine Bottle Cover. Use felt and festive embellishments to transform your gift into a decorative craft.
Materials:
- 1/2 yard green felt
- Green marker with fine point
- String
- Wrapping paper
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Embellishments
- Double-sided adhesive for fabric
- Ribbon
- Rubber band
- Optional: Computerized sewing machine, hot glue gun & glue sticks
Instructions:
-
Create the template. Unroll about 2 feet of wrapping paper wrong side up. Tie one end of the string to the marker. Using your ruler, draw a line parallel to the side edge of your wrapping paper. Mark your center point on the line and in the middle of the paper lengthwise. Using the string and marker as a compass (the kind you drew circles with back in grade school), draw a half circle that is 13 inches in radius. Using the same center point, draw a half circle that is 4 inches in radius. Draw a line from the center point to the 13” radius that is 120 degrees from one side. If you don’t have a protractor handy, divide your semicircle in half 3 times. Cut out your template.
-
Place the template on your green felt and pin in place. Using your market, draw this template onto your felt. Mark the center point on the green felt. Remove template.
-
Using the same center point and the marker tied to the string, draw circular arcs with radii listed - 5.5 inches, 7 inches, 8.5 inches, 10 inches, 11.5 inches.
-
Cut felt around the template at the 13” and 4” arcs.
-
Optional: Using decorative stitches of your choice, and contrasting thread, sew decorative stitches along the marked lines of your felt. OR Glue ribbon along the the marked lines.
-
Glue or sew embellishments on the green felt.
-
Use double sided adhesive to close the cover in place.
- Using ribbon, tie a bow around the rubber band. Attach bow to the top of the wine bottle using the rubber band.
