Cookie Cutter Repurposed Sweater Christmas Decorations

"These super cute ornaments are made from repurposed wool sweaters. The sweaters are first put in a hot wash to felt them. Cookie cutters have then been used as a template for the various Christmas shapes. The cut out sweater felt pieces are then hand sewn using a simple blanket stitch. The cute ornaments include a gingerbread man, a Christmas tree, a moose, a snowman and a stocking. If you don't have any Christmas shaped cookie cutters you can simply download the templates."

This is a really cute idea! I would have never thought to use the Christmas cookie cutters as a template for anything other than cookies. These will be really simple to make, and shouldnt take much time either. I think I will add some Christmas potpourri in them to make the house smell more festive.

I love making things from things I don't need or use anymore, and this is the perfect project for that. I also think that making these soft, light Christmas ornaments will be great for young hands to handle and hang on the tree, without worrying about something getting broken or someone getting injured. I plan on making a few with the grandkids names on them so they always have something special to hang on the tree where they like. And the older grandkids can help with the making of them!

Just goes to show you, you can make Christmas out of anything, or nothing! Using cookie cutters as patterns for ornaments is very creative. I don't think I even have any cookie cutters any more but I can make some templates. I'm not sure where I will put them but you can never have too many ornaments.
