These lanterns amaze me. Do you prefer to use the lined or unlined tin cans? I want to make an entire batch of these can lights to hang from the trees in my back yard. I think a banner using them to adorn an arch would be beautiful too, right?

This is an interesting way to recycle tin cans into luminaries. This very much resembles the folk art punched tin panels of yesteryear where pierced tin decorative panels could be found in shaker style furniture, pie safes, or kitchen cupboards. I like the rustic look and hope to give this a try.

I have seen similar projects several times and always thought I wanted to try it, but I never have. This looks like a very simple set of instructions on how to do it, so it may be time! I have to remember to save some cans first, though. Would paint put on with a brush look too rough?

These are beautiful to put outdoors, on the porch, near our path. This is an easy and fun project. We will work on this prior to the coming Christmas season.

These would make some very pretty porch decorations. I have a wooden fence around my front patio and one of these on all four corner posts at Christmas would be very pretty. There is a tradition of lighting candles along the walkway on Christmas Eve and these can do the same on my patio.
