Easy Christmas Jar Organizer

Cleaning up any kind of mess can be made so much simpler if you have an Easy Christmas Jar Organizer. Use this jar craft to help create a cute, but practical way to store your craft materials, gift tags, or whatever else you've got in stock throughout the year. These Christmas jars can be decorated with your favorite festive scrapbook paper, so they'll fit right in with the rest of your Christmas home decor perfectly.

Materials:

  • Clean plastic jar with lid
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam brushes
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Ruler

Optional:

  • Contact paper
  • Glitter
  • Chalk
  • Ribbon
  • Embellishments
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry your container to be upcycled
     
  2. If there is a design or logo you would like to cover up on the lid, cover lid with contact paper
     
  3. Paint lid with chalkboard paint
     
  4. Repeat with as many coats of chalkboard paint as needed for opaque coverage. Allow about 1 hour between coats and 24 hours before writing with chalk on the painted surface
     
  5. Measure and cut your scrapbook paper to cover the sides of your container
     
  6. Brush a medium layer of Mod Podge onto your container
     
  7. Place scrapbook paper as measured onto your container. Smooth out any air bubbles
     
  8. Allow to dry for at least 15 minutes
     
  9. Optional: Mix a small amount of glitter with a small amount of Mod Podge on a separate tray
     
  10. Add a thin coat of Mod Podge (or glitter mixed Mod Podge) on your scrapbook paper covered container
     
  11. Allow to dry for at least 15 minutes
     
  12. Optional: Add another thin layer of Mod Podge to your container
     
  13. Allow to dry completely
     
  14. To finish, add embellishments and/or ribbon to the container with your hot glue gun
     
  15. Label contents on lid with chalk

I have so many peanut butter and mayonnaise jars that would be perfect for this craft. I love that you are tidying up the essential Christmas items because mine always end up all over the place. They tend to find their way to the bottom of my boxes and totes, so a special place just for tags and ornament hangers will be nice.
