Christmas Canvas Art
No need to spend big bucks on art for your walls during the holiday season. Make your own Christmas Canvas Art from Carlene Eshelman using chipboard letters, decorative papers and more. DIY Christmas wall decor is a fun way to add sparkle to your home!
Materials:
- 8-1/2 x 11” canvas
- Chipboard letters that spell out “family”
- Pink, white, and teal acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Paint palette
- Mod Podge
- Two to three 6" X 6" Christmas papers
- Wood sleigh embellishment
- Button for flower center
- 18” fabric and lace gathered together
- Flower Rosette made with same fabric
- Glue gun/sticks
- Teal ribbon Bow with 13” extra on left, 10” extra on right side
- Optional - Walnut stain distress ink/tool, word stamp
Instructions:
- Paint sleigh with white paint.
- Mix white and pink paint to create a matching color with paper, and paint canvas.
- Mix white and teal paint to create a matching color with paper.
- Use a dry brush to paint pastel teal color in random places on canvas. Let dry.
- Cut one 6”x6” paper in half.
- Place in top left, and bottom right corners of canvas.
- Mod Podge papers in place.
- Take focal 6” X 6” paper and Mod Podge to center of canvas. Let dry.
- Optional- Use distress ink/tool to add ink to various places on canvas for an aged effect. Use distress ink to stamp a word stamp for added interest.
- Arrange the chipboard letters on top of canvas. Hot glue in place.
- Hot glue pastel teal ribbon in top left corner.
- Tack different spots down to create rippling ribbon. Do this for top right, and left bottom sides of canvas.
- Hot glue fabric/lace piece to bottom of canvas.
- Hot glue gathered rosette to center.
- Hot glue button to flower center.
- Use foam dots to adhere sleigh to bottom right corner of canvas.
