This has got to be one of my favorite ways to put table settings and name cards in the right place for guests. It is festive and creative. It will also give people something to talk about in case the food is not as pretty. Thanks for adding a unique way of using pinecones.

I came here searching for a Christmas craft using a pinecone. My daughter found a HUGE pinecone that is just picture perfect and I knew I had to do SOMETHING with it. Not finding what I was looking for exactly, I noticed this craft. BINGO! I can use the big pinecone as a centerpiece for the table and make the little ones for matching place card holders. We are a very casual family so this is sure to draw some looks from my kids and grand-kids. My only question is how long the pinecones will last? Do they self preserve or is there something you need to do to keep them from deteriorating?

Once they are dry, they will last. You can fully preserve pine cones by baking them or soaking and then drying them completely. Though, some methods will "open" the pine cone so you have to make sure you pick the method that won't alter the look. You can find the exact directions when you search the internet for "how to preserve pine cones". I hope this helps. Good luck! - Krista, Editor, AllFreeChristmasCrafts
