Snow Globe Door Decoration

Snow Globe Door Decoration

"Each year, families help decorate all of the doors at our children's school, but this craft would be very fun to do at home as well! My young son and I made this DIY snow globe together using lightweight supplies that wouldn't fall off of the door. I let my son make most of the creative decisions like coloring the snowmen and penguins and placing items in our DIY paper snow globe. Just keep in mind that the whole project will have to withstand the door opening and closing!"

Primary TechniquePaper Crafts

Easy

Materials List

  • Cellophane
  • Duct Tape
  • Snowflake Stickers
  • Mini Gift Boxes
  • Mini Strand of Lights
  • Flat Snowmen, Penguins, and Christmas Trees
  • Craft Glue

Instructions

  1. Draw a pencil outline of your snow globe on your background paper

  2. Cut out some white paper to look like snow banks

  3. Arrange your main items where you want them (the tree, penguins, snowmen)

  4. Glue down the white paper

  5. Decorate your tree (we simply criss-crossed the mini lights strand across the front of the tree, & taped it from the back to hold them in place)

  6. Decorate your other items if needed (our penguins & snowmen needed faces drawn on)

  7. Glue on your tree & other main items (like our penguins & snowmen)

  8. Use a tape roll to easily stick the presents in a row under the tree

  9. Place snow stickers inside of your snow globe outline

  10. Let any glue spots dry a bit

  11. Place a piece of cellophane over top of your snow globe outline & trim edges. It doesn’t need to be perfect because you will be using wide duct tape to tape it down

  12. Duct tape around the edges of the top part of your snow globe using small strips at a time to help make it rounded

  13. Use long strips of duct tape to easily make your base
